So thats one hour a week sorted......

Its about 20 mins, once a month, at a push.

Loosing £10,000 on a deposit into a bank account takes about 30 seconds.

  • Again its not unlawful. (Just to make it clear to everyone)

    @JCS1

I suggested the OP to "invite her (employee) and her husband...... In for a chat." That's not breach of data protection

Even if she doesn't bring a family member with her, the OP can still have a chat about there concerns with.

If the employer invited the husband direct it would be.

There's no need for a chat, a letter retiring her or giving her notice with a proof of posting (naturally).

Let's just say that the other three employees have found a way of manipulating the till so it appears that the discrepancies appear on this lady's shift. After all OP admits to being new to all this. And they are more than happy to "suggest" to the OP that they have concerns about her mental health. It may not be very likely but it's more than possible.

And you have bought this lady (and one of her relatives) into a meeting to voice your concerns about her mental health.. And as the employer you admit there has been no investigation at all.

How do you think that would play out?

Again. OP please get proper advice
  • It's bang out of order to invite a member of her family in for a chat, how humiliating would that be for her!! It's not a managers job to dig for information, they are not investigators.

Please seek legal advice. You could do with chatting to them about the lost cash anyway, the Post Office can be very unforgiving where missing funds are concerned.

Agree with this so much. If an employer did that to me, I would be furious.

You can't legally retire people anymore, that got removed about 10 years ago
Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked
  • So it'd bang out of order to invite them to bring a family member with them to an "informal" chat to express your concerns to them informally.

That's like saying its bang out of order to invite the employee to a "formal" disclipinary where they may be accompanied by a fellow worker where the discussion may involve mental health issues too.

    Hypocritical much!

In no way did I suggest the OP invite a family member by direct invitation to a family member. I suggested they invite the employee and..... In the sane paragraph I stated "but do not
  • Under any circumstances talk to her family behind her back"

    Sorry tablet froze on me.
