I appreciate you have autism, but your inability to accept the situation because of your condition is of no relevance or concern to anyone but yourself.

The employers offered you the job on the condition you met an essential criteria of holding a certain qualification, and you are unable to provide proof of that. I also work for the public sector and some jobs even require people to prove their GCSE’s, people who got those GCSE’s decades ago. It doesn’t matter, they need proof of competency and saying ‘I’m honest do you need to believe me, and I have autism so I cannot accept that you need this information’ does not change anything.

You need to focus your efforts on finding out who has the information and how you can get that information from them. There is no point putting energy into being annoyed at the situation as it won’t change it. It was always a risk to claim a qualification you don’t have proof of, and it has come around to bite you.

As other have stated they can and will revoke the offer of you cannot prove you qualify, the same way you could reject their job if they decided to offer you half the salary advertised.
