Bailiff - Went to My Sisters House Instead of Mine

Hi All -

Here is an interesting one for you. I am in debt with a car purchase company called Moneybarn.... Due to being out of work and moving to a different part of the UK. I recognise this debt and have plans to contact them this week, however, unbeknownst to me they have passed my file to bailiffs.

This is where is gets interesting. They go to my sister's house where she has been living for 5 weeks to enquire for me by name.

1 - My sister moved there 5-6 weeks ago. I only found out the address myself yesterday.

2 - My sister and I have never had anything in joint names and the last time we lived together was when we were kids.

3 - She has my surname but then so do many others in my family.

So, my question is, how did they link me up with my sister on a house I have never been to yet?

Adam

Tracing agents. Some of 'em are quite good at it.:)
  • Really? I didn't know that - How can a tracing agent find my sister and link us together? Why not my Dad, for example? What do they hope to gain my visiting my sister? I'm 300 miles away.

He may not leave the same digital footprint.

Don't know. A former neighbour of yours gave them her name? They were obviously hoping that your sister had your current address.

They were hoping their car would be there as they clearly want it back
We offer a type of car loan which is known as a “Conditional Sale Agreement”. This means you will be able to use your car for the length of the agreement term and it will be registered to you. However, we will be the legal owners of the car until all finance repayments have been made, and we’ll then transfer ownership to you.

They don't need a court order if less than a third has been paid
