the good, the bad and the ugly.....

Evening....

Having found myself sitting here every day at work (because I'm a temp and they don't trust me with the big things).... I have found myself a sparkly new job.... (the good)

But... it's weekly paid at the minute and the new job I start on monday will be monthly paid.... I've only just got used to paying 2 direct debits a week and bills etc... (the bad)... so it could get really (ugly) complicated....

Any ideas? I think i've missed the boat for four of them due out next week and the week after as they need 14 days notice...

Do I panic yet? :o

    Congrats on the new job!!

Have you tried asking your bank for a temporary overdraft or just an OD and then reduce it once you are used to monthly pay?

  • Thank you Shineyhappy (",) ... overdraft is at the max (750) with 11 squids to spare - they won't let me have any more as it's a new account.

Been a good girl (so i thought) and cut up the plastic last year so even the 'emergency' one is in the bin... lmao..

Maybe you should cancel the DDs to avoid the bank charges? You could always reinstall them when they write to you?

If you bank on-line (quick quick, sign up if you don't it has saved my bacon on many occasions:D ) it takes a couple of clicks to cancel a DD. You may well irritate the company you owe, but you shouldn't be charged, and you can re-instate & send a cheque for that payment.

If you are going to a biggish company they will understand and may even have a procedure for advance payments on your first salary.

Well done on the new job anyway and good luck :j
  • Open new acc (A&L gets £50 via quidco me thinks!) & then cancel esisting DDM's & ring cos and ask for a new mandate to be sent out thus using time honored delaying tactics!

  • Thank you for your replies.. I've promised myself I will never leave a job again without having one to go to... reducing the risk of being a temp with weekly pay!!! :o

OliveOyl - it's a council lol... they take their time; I can but ask! I've put it on my list of things to sort.

Fishface-69 - I opened an A&L account last month with Quidco and got the fifty squids.. put it towards overpayment on the lloyds CC lol...

I could always blame those naughty 'gremlins' in the system... you know, the ones that keep mysteriously cancelling direct debits.. but wouldn't I then risk falling behind with payments?

Begged and pleaded my parents last night but they're both pensioners and on little money...

    Grin and bear it methinks..
