Tesco CFC - Being sent home early every day and not getting my core hours

Hi there, I'm in need of some advice.
I've recently started working at Tesco, at a Customer Fulfillment Centre as a picker under a Full Time Flexi Contract.
In my contract, I have been assigned the core hours of 3.75hrs per day, week days, and have had my weekly earnings calculated and shown in the contract. My contract also states that I may need to work an additional 3.75hrs each day should the need occur, something I'm completely fine with.
My issue is that for these last 2 months I've been here, every single day (except one), we've been sent home early due to completing the pick for the orders and having no more work to do. This is often after 2.5-3hrs each day, which is less than my core contracted hours.
This has resulted in me being paid roughly 20% less than what my core hours/contract pay says I should be being paid.
Tesco prides itself on having no zero hour contracts, but surely this is a zero hour contract, as I'm not being paid the amount my contract says I should, and I am now never sure what my minimum pay will be.
Does any of this sound wrong? What should I do?

Does your contract mention anything about lay offs or short time working?
If it doesn't then your likely entitled to pay for the full hours of your contract. As only if the contract has terms on lay offs and/or short time working can your employer pay you just for the actual hours you've worked, instead of paying you your full contracted hours.0 -

This.

If it's like the distrubution centre my friend works at for tesco the staff are fitted with a tracker if they are inactive or too slow their name gets called over the tannoy to get back to work or work quicker so this may not be an optionFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

Fair point, though I suspect that this isn't the case here.
I suspect that the workers pick items from the Tesco store shelf and load it onto the van.
It would probably boil down to what happens to frozen foods tbh, but I mirror those who say "slow down". Mind you, this still may not be possible (they may have to "pick on demand").
Mind you, OP has been there for ~2 months and lost out on 1h a day (approximation, given they said they work for 2.5-3h/ day with the median being 2.75) and they work "week days".
So they've lost out on approximately (8 weeks * 5 days = 40 hours * £8 ph) £320 gross.
I think it would be worth querying it with the employer to be fair. If the contract states 3.75 hours a day (over 5 days is my assumption above) then they should realistically be getting those hours.0 -

The issue is we can't slow down as a team. The pick rate we have to hit is 269, and the team as a whole hits around 260-270 together, so this is the speed we should be at. If we were to all slow down, we'd be spoken to.0 -

Yes, slowing down is not possible. There are three teams, mine being the "chiller" team. Everything is automated and quite high tech. We have devices on our arms to scan items which we pack in to trays and are sent off on a conveyor system. This monitors our pick rate (having to stay in the green to be on target). This is set at 269, any lower and you will be spoken to so they can help you improve. Every day our pick rate is shown on a notice board (with our ID numbers not names). I'm hitting around 300, but our team is hitting as a whole 260-270, which is on target. Any slower and we'd be spoken to.0 -
Spoken to lol
After that do you get 'Taken care of' ?0 -
