Paying into a SIPP

Luckily, no Nat Ins is due anyway as I am on state pension.
The tax man still has some money of mine from when I overpaid when I was in a PAYE job.
I left it in so that if I needed to pay any tax when I was self employed, they could take it out of that rather than me perhaps have to struggle to find it. It was in effect a bit of rainyday insurance so to speak.
I did draw some out when I was ill but not all of it as it seems to be earning quite a bit of interest.0
