:) I run the lights in my flat when away from home (well, the lamps) on a couple of simple plug-in timeswitches. Three of them cost £4.99 a few years ago.

You can get a plug in thingummy which replicates the effect of a TV playing when seen from outside - that on a timer with some lights and your house would look occupied.

I guess you can put your heating on and off by a timer, say for a couple of hours a day, just to stop the house getting clammy?

I always apply KISS principles to my life, as it is usually cheaper, easier and less aggravating to use the easy solution than jump onto the latest tech-y toy.

Of course, if you want to be able to watch the inside or outside of your main home when on the interwebs from your holiday home (or wherever) that's your business. HTH.
