Flu Vaccine

I get my kids the vaccine. My choice as I am the primary caregiver. My ex is against it, but respects my decision (and realises that he doesn't have much say if I want them to get it).
However, he has said that he doesn't want the children when they get it in school for at least four days after they get it as he has a young baby (8 months) and doesn't want them near him.
I'll go with this as I would rather my children with me, but is there any sense in him doing this? From what I can see, the baby could be in contact with any number of people who have had the flu vaccine just by going out of the house.

I would say longer than 4 days myself.
The visiting children will have closer contact than the outside peopleBlackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -

But is he likely to get anything, just because my kids have been vaccinated against it?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Can't be bothered reading that, but if it says that they should stay away, it just means he misses out on a weekend with his kids.
Doesn't bother me. Or should I really be considering not doing the vaccine because of this?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

You're welcome.
I can understand the new mum feeling vulnerable I remember feeling like that. As it doesn't bother you I would go along with it for the child's sake.Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -

Towards the bottom of that, it says that there's no evidence of healthy people catching flu because somebody in close contact with them has recently been vaccinated.
It does say that severely immunocompromised people should avoid contact with recently vaccinated people for 2 weeks. It doesn't mention babies but they're not severely immunocompromised so I assume they're included in 'healthy people'.
Your ex sounds like a muppet. There's no sense I can see in his '4 days' so, depending on how you feel, you might like to suggest either no time without the kids or the full 2 weeks!0 -
I had my flu shot earlier this month and the nurse told me it takes 2 weeks before it starts to work.
Never knew that I thought 48 hours.:o0
