Home Dry Cleaning

What is the best way of dry cleaning clothes at home? There are various kits available, are they any good? If so, which one to buy? I am mainly looking to get wool trousers for work get dry-cleaned at home.

  • Never tried it myself. I would imagine the big thing is to make sure you do it in a well ventilated space and preferably wear a mask. I tend to just "spot clean" any soiled areas, then give the garment a good brush and hang in the fresh air, sometimes with a squirt of fabreze.

    Are you absolutely sure you can't wash them gently, maybe by hand. I often find the label says dry clean only but with care they can be washed.
