Help! change name on mortgage and remortgage

My friend and I took out a interest only mortgage in 2007, since then he's moved out and I've married and now living in the property with my wife.
What I'd like to do is take my friends name off the mortgage (he's happy enough to for this as he's married too) and put the mortgage in mine and my wife's name and if possible change to a repayment mortgage.
However I've no idea where to start? do I speak to my current lender? a solicitor or a financial advisor or all three to try and make this happen.
Any advice greatly appreciated just need to know what steps to take
Thanks

That isn't "changing the name" any more than if you said "I'd like to change the name of our prime minister by replacing Theresa May with Donald trump. It's just a different name"
It would be a whole different new Prime Minister / mortgage.
Speak to a broker about a new mortgage. Are there any early repayment penalties on the current mortgage?0 -
Thanks yeah I know it's not just changing a name from one to the other, I'm just not sure who I contact first but your saying contact a broker first?0

Yep contact a broker. Well I would. Otherwise you'll be rushing all over and might still miss the best deals or the specific lenders who will cater for your circumstances.0
