Transfer Vanguard S&S ISA to HL SIPP

I currently have £20k invested in VLS funds. I am thinking I should transfer this to a SIPP to benefit from the tax relief. My intention would be to invest in VLS funds via HL.
Is it possible to do a direct transfer from the Vanguard ISA to the HL SIPP or would I need to transfer toa HL ISA first?

You would need to encash the ISA and receive the money back and then reinvest the £25,000 gross.Is it possible to do a direct transfer from the Vanguard ISA to the HL SIPP or would I need to transfer toa HL ISA first?
