Bristow & Sutor - Attachment to Earnings

Basically I've fallen behind with my CT payments and have had several EAs with Bristow & Sutor and in a way I prefer it as the amount is cleared at source.
I'm not trying to avoid paying CT but simply missed the deadline for monthly payments in previous years and it went to court and obviously an Attachment to Earnings was made. What has angered me is the first I knew of the payments being taken from my wages was when I saw the deductions on my wageslip. I have had no letter from B&S saying they'll be taking £xx over xx months. Should B&S written to me to advise their plan of action so that I am aware of it and could make plans to cover the deduction like overtime etc.

With all due respect, when an application for an Attachment of Earnings is made, the court will request the defendant to settle the monies owed else provide employment and expenditure details. As I'd expect you to say you received no correspondence on the matter (as basically everyone starts by claiming), you are still obliged to make reasonable efforts to attend to your debt or update your relevant contact details.

I have been late on my Council Tax, I'd typically receive a letter with bold red text demanding I settle it but nothing ever came of it assuming it was settled in a reasonable time frame. I would question what "simply missed the deadline for monthly payments" actually means.

I think you're trying to rationalise this by focusing your attention on the fact B&S didn't pop round for a cup of tea before chasing you for money you lawfully owe. As I was, it's common Knowledge that Council Tax is an absolute priority bill because of the fact obtaining AoE's are so easy for them.

I hope you resolve this nonetheless and my apologies if my skepticism was unjust.

It's just the lack of comms from B&S that's annoying me. I'm halfway through paying the current court order so will start 2019 with no deductions for B&S.

Are you in England or Wales ?
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
