Vetting !

I dont know what to do. Its seriously been an awful situation and one i've never had to go through0

All it states in the Vetting is this : "If you are charged with an offence after you have returned this form, please get in touch with me straight away."
However I wasn't charged.0 -
The arrest was domestic related but in my opinion extremely unfair. My partner was trying to enter my home after repeated requests for them to go home beforehand. Partner was intoxicated. I pushed them first and thus the police said I instigated it, However I received a black eye and also had to go to hospital yet they took me to the station and they received no repercussions whatsoever. I would have challenged this, but ive been seriously afraid further action would just result in potentially further issues with the authorities.
Seems a bit odd...
Firstly, and most importantly, you use the word "partner" as apposed to the phrase "ex partner". Or do you get off on black eyes?
Secondly, surely the police had to be present in order for you to get done for "pushing" your partner?! If they weren't present then they'd have no evidence! They'd be presented with someone who had eye bruises and an intoxicated non-resident trying to gain access. It is a no-brainer as to who they'd side with!
I suspect that you were taken in for breach of the peace and that your complaints about your "partner" is an entirely separate issue.0 -
IMO it depends what the job role you are getting vetted for is. If it is MOD related then they would not be as worried as if you were working in say a victim support role.
As they have told you to tell them then definitely do so. I don't know, but in this electronic world, when they put in your data request there could be a notification to automatically tell them if anything changes within a given timescale.0 -
But what grounds were given for your arrest? You don't have to tell us, but you should have been told, otherwise it's a wrongful arrest, and if it was wrongful, it's worth telling THAT to your vetters, surely?
I'm afraid my only source is wikipedia, but for England and Wales ...
Regardless of what power a person is arrested under, they must be informed that they are under arrest and of the grounds for their arrest at the time or as soon after the arrest as is practicable, otherwise the arrest is unlawfulSignature removed for peace of mind0 -

I don't consider myself an expert, but I've held an SC for 30 years and deal with getting staff to complete their forms.
My opinion would be to send an e-mail outlining the facts concisely and stress that no action has arisen from this, which is a domestic incident that got out of hand (AIUI).
I'd be very surprised if it came to anything, I've seen worse and people still have got their clearances.0 -
I really don’t think the details of my relationship are relevant! And judgement is entirely unnecessary.
As soon as I arrived to the station the sergeant complained to the arresting officers due to my injuries and for allowing the other party to leave with no charges. He attempted to have me leave as soon as possible however I required hospitalisation
It is entirely ridiculous however. And unjust.
Does anyone know if you file a complaint with a duty inspector is the case completely reopened? Essentially if I complaint is made, is there a chance this could have even further negatives consequences for myself? Or would it simply be a review and then their decision0 -
Just so you know there isn't always a fixed criteria with vetting as different agencies are often looking for different criteria i.e. some stricter than others. The advice I have always seen is be honest. It looks worse if you haven't declared everything. Theoretically there were no charges, you have a clean history, assume you finances are in order etc so hopefully nothing to concern yourself about. But not worth thinking through just be honest and see what comes back.0
