As a Company Director he would do well to look into the company contributing to a Directors Pension. Theres no Corporation Tax to be paid on these funds. I'd suggest this should form part of your partners Pension plans and taxation management.

You should also keep in mind that normally it is OK to make extra contributions to your own workplace pension . Often workplace pensions have lower charges than one you set up yourself.
Although they are called workplace pensions usually you can have direct contact with the pension provider yourself as they are not directly linked to your employer.
