Utilities after exchange affect mortgage

Hi all

New to the board but been lurking for a while. Hopefully someone may be able to help.

FTB exchanged last week and due to complete in 2 weeks. Mortgage all good and through halifax.

Was looking to sort broadband etc in the new flat however it seems utliity companies credit check you. As been living with the folks we dont have any utility accounts to transfer so they are new. My question is if i apply for broadband water etc will the credit checks risk my mortgage in case the halifax re check prior to completion? No new credit cards or credit use obviously.

Any help would be grand

Thank you

  • I expect that there is no risk to your mortgage whatsoever in getting the utilities sorted for your new home

If you want to be risk adverse then the broadband could wait a week or two
