Loan application approved but not taken - credit score

In error (partly mine and partly a poorly designed bank website) I made a loan application when I was just looking for a quote. The loan application was approved but I don't want to take it as it was very different to the advertised offer on the initial calculator. I am now worried that this will affect my credit score and wonder how it will affect me getting quotes from other companies. Prior to this my credit score was excellent and I have no red flags.
The bank has said they can delete the application but it will leave a footprint on my credit rating. Would I be better off just leaving the application and trying to gets quotes elsewhere or getting the application deleted?
Any advice would be appreciated. TiA
