I'm sorry to hear you're giving your plot up but you'll still get loads of enjoyment from what you can do in your garden/yard.
Our plot has been seriously neglected this year with the house move but it's still produced a bumper crop. Only managed one pumpkin but did get 8 butternuts and 2 patty pan, I was picking between 3/5 kilo of courgette every few days (loads in the freezer) and the runner beans did fairly well. We excelled with tomatoes though, I only had 6 germinate but was given another 12 and the whole lot just took over. I've got the last 2 bowls ripening off but I've made gallons on tomato based sauces for the freezer. Yesterday I plonked a huge bowl of tomatoes, 2 large handfuls of chard, some onions and a large round courgette in the slowcooker and the resulting whizzed up sauce is to die for.
Our new garden is huge and I've already earmarked off a growing area and have a greenhouse ready to put up. I hope to get some dry weather to get a few beds marked out and dug ready for spring but it will be a work in progress over the years. Luckily our allotment plot is just half a mile away now (was 7 miles away before the move) so I can pop round much more easily).
I've only got leeks in to over winter this year, didn't have chance to get anything else sorted but know I'll appreciate them when they come out of the ground (I planted an entire pack of seeds and managed to plant up 229 leeks!!)"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W.
