Hey guys, I totally understand what you're saying, and after speaking to some I agree.
A really nice gentleman from a local company contacted me last night, spent time discussing it and their practice is totally different, it wasn't about selling it was about finding the best products that could fit me.
Quote I got is as follows
- 14 x Perlight 285 all black mono panels
- 1 x Rayleigh single phase generation meter
- 1 x Growatt 3600 Dual MPPT
- 1 x Geo Solo 3 PV monitoring solution (this is something I asked to be added on)
Cost £5792.85 (plus £194.25 for the Geo III)0 -
Overall the quote seems a tad high for a basic 14 panel install.... but its good you are talking to other people to see what is out there.
Same question as the other quote thread. Why only 285w panels when 300 and 330 are out there?
You can put 4200 and 4620 worth of panels on a 3600 inverter and would really help in these lower months of generation.
Also, can you get more than 14 panels on your roof? The more the merrier as this install is a one off and many of the costs are things like scaffold and install. Panels are only £100/£200 each.17 x 300W panels (5.1kW) on a 3.68kW SolarEdge system in Sunny Sheffield.

Thanks Zarch, I'll speak to him about a 300/330w panel out there and see what it does to the price. Tbh it was me that asked for the 4kw system.
The 14 panels are the most I can get on the two roofs, I'd need to spread to the north facing roof for anymore.

Looking at the image of the house and it being a dual aspect install i'd worry that the installers are not taking this into account and recommending SolarEdge.
A SolarEdge inverter (with an optimiser attached to each panel) allows each panel to work independently or each other, which you'd need to happen on a dual aspect install as the sun moves around during the day.17 x 300W panels (5.1kW) on a 3.68kW SolarEdge system in Sunny Sheffield.

Following our conversation yesterday I have some questions to ask.
1- With the house being dual aspect with two roofs, (see attached image) would it not be better to go with a system like the SolarEdge inverter (with an optimiser attached to each panel) which allows each panel to work independently?
2- Is it worth while going over the 285w panels, more is better? I know Prolight do 300w panels and they only cost a small amount more.
3- Would it be possible to get a breakdown of the pricing, itemised parts and labour charges. I appreciate a large part of it is scaffolding and labour as the panels/system is relatively cheap.

Just looked at your first post again.
25 Degrees is NNE and 65 Degrees is EEN but your picture shows 1 roof at right angles to the other so yours or Project Solar Orientation is I would say wrong.

Sorry the degrees I posted are OFF south,
So the front shot is 25° is off south, so 155°
Side roof is 65° off south so is 245°0 -
