Debt Advice - ShopDirect/Littlewoods/Very

Hi All,
Looking for some advice and guidance please.
I had two accounts littlewoods and very, both had payment protection on them. I run the accounts fine for years and then got into a bad patch financially and couldn't afford to pay them, it didn't help that I was being paid monthly and the statements were 4 weekly. Anyway, Shop Direct sold the debt to Lowell, I now have a CCJ for the one account. But they piled on a load of charges and interest before they sold the debt to Lowell, and what was a £2k debt between two accounts is now a £3.7k debt.
Any advice with this? Or should I just accept it is what it is and continue paying the amount agreed with Lowell.
Thanks in advance
Sarah

Hi,
If you believe the interest was added unfairly, for example, it was not stated in the terms and conditions that interest was payable, or it was not made clear to you, then you may have cause for complaint with the original creditor.
If it was clearly communicated to you, then unfortunately you would of agreed to this by use of the account, making orders and payments etc.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. You had payment protection on both accounts - was this a form of PPI?
Did you try claiming under the "protection" when things turned bad?
If it was PPI - which it probably was - have you tried claiming for missold PPI?0 -
It was that long ago I can’t really remember much.
I spoke to them about the payments at the time and they were unhelpful, I was off work with stress and they said it wasn’t covered. I was in a bad relationship at the time and pretty much just buried my head in the sand.
When it went to Lowell, I initially thought they had combined the two accounts in one, i later realised it was interest and charges, as I received another letter for the other account which was also nearly double. Lowell didn’t help at all they said that was the figure. So again I just left it.
I’m in a better position now so can afford to make payments, I just think it was really unfair that they added nearly twice the amount before they sold it to Lowell. A few people have said I should pursue it as the charges were unfair.
I’m waiting for a statement from them to confirm the amounts0 -
