Is hotmail reliable?

I've always used gmail for comping and never had any problens but moved home recently and wanted to ensure nothing went to my old address, so set up a new hotmail e-mail address and new account on most sites.
I only set this up at the end of October. Today it would not let me log in via the app and told me to log in via the website. When I did it said my account had been suspended as it may have been used for spamming!?
When I managed to get logged back in I have not received any e-mails for during the time it was suspended, so potentially not received a winning e-mail which could have bounced back to the sender and have been redrawn. I'm fuming.
Has anyone else had any issues using hotmail/outlook? Is gmail more reliable? What e-mail does everyone else prefer to use?

Personally I prefer Gmail.
You can have mutiple accounts so why not just set another gmail account up ?0 -
I go mainly with gmail as I find it easier to use multiple accounts with that than outlook/hotmail but I much preferred the older versions of both of them to how they are now. I also use yahoo for a few things but that is third choice.0

Some of the mag sites (and others) seem to have trouble dealing with changes of address and it can be simpler just to open new accounts with a new e-mail address (I would).0 -
My old e-mail address had my old street address in it and I want to be disassociated with that place forever.
I have opened a gmail instead, now I have to go through th rigmarole of changing it on all of the sites ai have registered on.Make £10 per day-

Hi there,
I had no issues with my hotmail address until about six months ago. I've had the account for about 10 years but six months ago lots of sites started to reject it, asking me to enter a valid email address. Now I'm locked out of my Apple id without a 'valid address' to be able to change my password and I've lost music and photos.
I now go with gmail and would avoid hotmail.0 -
100% Gmail, I lost my Hotmail account for 10 years without notice. And Gmail filters spam better, my Hotmail box is full of spam.:money::money:0
