Family moving in after we have on a mortgaged property

Hi, I hope someone can help me. We are about to move into a new build property with a mortgage .. my parents and brothers are possibly going to be evicted from their home and I know they are going to ask me if they can stay at ours. Whether that be a few months or maybe a year I don't really know...
Does anyone know if it's allowed or should I just ask the property developer or mortgage provider??

Would the property be big enough to fit you, your parents and brothers ?
Why cant they move to a new property ?
  • Hmm, well it's a 3 bed. Not the best situation..
  • I'm not really sure if they can move to another property. They are currently in a council house but can't pay rent so are bound to get evicted by council soon surely

If they can not afford council rent, as harsh as this sounds are you sure you are not going to get "stuck" with them?

How would they afford a property on the open market?
Would they get another council property?

Tread carefully, family and money should never mix. As Above ACG, questions very important

It's not always as simple as, their family of course you need to help. Without looking at everything else, is unwise.

A family already, now wanting to have another family and more siblings in a 3 bed house is not going to end well

  • I know, that's exactly what I don't want to happen. But I feel there's no other option. I don't really want them homeless but on the same hand don't want them at ours. As like you say we'd be stuck with them...

What is the reason that they're not paying the rent?

There's a high probability that once they're in yours they'll be there fur the duration. You need to consider whether it's easier to help them look for alternatives now, or whether you're trying to still get them out of yours in a couple of years time.

  • Right, to cut a long story short my dad is mentally ill. He hasn't been to the docs for ages as he thinks they're out to get him. So as docs haven't seen him they think he can work. ( My mum used to care for my dad)

The DWP are the ones who will make the decision if someone can work or not. You need to try and get your father to engage with the mental health services, what your GP/DWP don't know, they cannot assume he has an issue.

At least having a paper trail may help your case with the DWP.
