    Anything in writing from that period where the FSCS or the FSA ever said that corporate loan notes were covered by the FSCS? That is the part I find really unbelievable.

    I wasn't too surprised to know that providers and salesmen were getting it wrong. I've seen even top-class IFAs get it wrong with the distinction between SCARP structured loan notes/100% "capital protected" structured loan notes/structured deposits. But for the FSCS and FSA to get it wrong would be something else. They don't usually comment on individual products for a good reason.

    Obviously advice to invest in SCARPs was also always covered by the FSCS for the same reason that advice to invest in unregulated crap is.
