Surely having a 30 hour a week contract at £6 an hour, rather than a zero hour contract at £9 an hour would be much more beneficial to the employee AND the company, especially a small business.

How exactly is it beneficial for the employee to do 10 hours of work unpaid?

My employer pays the living wage...but our pay rise is in April so effectively I work for less than the living wage for 6 months of the year then 6 months above the living wage until it goes up again next November, when I will then be below living wage again. Its a huge con.

    Explain the con?

The NLW or the living wage foundation?

NLW will increase, as previously by around 25p

Living wage foundation (or whatever they call it) will say £12, which obviously wont happen.
