why did you get your eyes tested in the first place if you're not going to take the opticians advice?0

Given this is presumably your first pair I believe the lenses are free ( someone may correct me )0

I have no idea why you'd think that. Technically no one gets "free glasses". The NHS will fund a voucher for people on low incomes and children which covers the cost of a basic pair of glasses at most opticians (because they realise that if they didn't provide them at the voucher cost the competition would) but there's no free set of lenses for the first prescription.0 -

I’m sure my ex got her lenses for free as it was her first pair. My bad.0 -
I got my first pair for free.
Oh hang on. I was 7 at the time and it was an NHS pair0 -
Are you having problems?
Struggling to read?
Eyestrain?

If you are concerned about the cost why not try a pair of non-prescription 'ready readers' first? They can be found in various supermarkets, pharmacies, high street stores & similar and cost a fraction of the price of prescription glasses. I have a couple of pairs for reading at home and save my prescription glasses for use at work.0
