Job Training Scam

I thought I would share this with you as a good friend has fallen for this job training scam as have many others locally
She applied for a factory job on Indeed.com with a firm called MTrec in Cramlington Northumberland & also in Blyth Northumberland.
After applying she received a call to go a for an interview in Blyth and was told during the interview session she had been successful and would be placed in 1 of the four factory jobs.
They asked her to go for a 4-day training session to see which of the four areas suited her best and then she could choose.
On the 1st day, it was explained she would not be paid for the training, contradicting the previous information but that they would be taken on at the end of the week.
There was lots of form filling for a firm called Sora & Gateshead College. Sora was doing the training and being paid by Gateshead college
There were lots of ppl on the course, many of who were unemployed and struggling to pay for travel to the MTrec training premises in Blyth.
On the last day, they were promised they would be contacted within 48 hours to start work. No contact was made and calls by my friend have been ignored.
It turns out MTrec & Sora are being paid to train these poor souls looking for work. MTrec does have factories but profiting for unemployed folks looking for work. The staff that have worked for them seem to leave lots of bad reviews
On doing some digging I have found lots of others on Indeed.com complaining about no work being available but they do pack the training room with people looking for work.

Gateshead College is a legitimate and respected educational body. If you think that this is a scam, wouldn't it be better to go to them and report it? The chances of anything happening as the result of a third party post on an anonymous internet site is low. The chances of something being done if this is being reported to the funders and if it is indeed a scam are very high, because Gateshead College will be sourcing that funding from somewhere else and will be accountable for it.0

If I've understood this correctly, they are essentially using people as bodies to collect funding from the college which in turn comes from some sort of government scheme?
If this is the correct interpretation you should consider writing to the college, your local MP and anyone else that will listen. That's outrageous.0 -
Is it the Jobcentre who are referring people to Sora for the training courses ?0

These fake jobs should be banned, they do no good for the employee.0

No its job ads on Indeed.com but I believe there were ppl there from the job centre as they were asking for help with travelling expenses
I will be contacting Gateshead College & the Job Centre shortly.
It has also been reported to indeed.com
From what I gather from another source, SORA does this on a regular basis and that their training is rather poor.
I agree it needs to be reported and I think they are using gov funding here0
