hmm has the prescription been rechecked. The R eye has increase a couple of steps and if the focus through the specs is closer that needs looking at.

If 90% vision is their that varies may still be suitable if you accept their is a 'blurry' patch in the centre.

Hard to say without seeing you.

    OK thanks.

They said that the right eye now has the maximum magnification possible.

Would a second opinion/eye test help?

  • Well, we tried out the distance lens in the right eye in conjunction with the three varifocal settings in turn for the left.

The distance setting had much more clarity for distance uses.

The reading setting rather emphasised the waviness and unevenness of the damaged eye and so might get tiring.

The intermediate setting was more difficult to judge, as they had opted for a gradual transition rather than fixed. It might be as confusing as the reading setting for computer use.

They spent a long time with me going through this, so was grateful and they offered to do the single lens for free and charged £19.50 to give me back the varifocal if it doesn't work.

    Will report back next week.

    Cheers!

  • The Retina Is The Fine Film That Coats The Inside Of The Eyeball. You Should try getting a single distance lens in the damaged eye and a varifocal in the unaffected one. Also I would recommend seeking advice from specialists. My Mother had a successful Diabetic Retinopathy from the Bharti Eye Hospital.
  • Hello folks,
The single vision lens in the right eye has worked well for me. Just had the prescription changed so getting acclimatised. The cataract in the right eye has not progressed in 2 years either  :)
