OH Bankrupt today - our experience

Well today was the day, after a restless night we got kids off to school and started panicking, we checked, double checked and then tripled checked the forms and fee.

After parking the car we realised we were too early so went to get a sandwich (in our panic we had both forgotten breakfast:D ), went to teh County Court which is a few floors above where i used to work (10 years working and had never been up there or really knew what went on).

OH had to turn out his pockets in front of a security guard and he also asked me to open my bag (that was probably the worst part of the whole day;) ), then we were shown into a waiting room which was very very busy. We heard people saying the Judge was running very late (over an hour).
After about 40 mins waiting we got called to a desk and a lady and a trainee checked through the forms, OH made the oath on the Bible and they took the money:eek: , then it was back to waiting area.

After another hour and a bit OH got called in, he was in there literally a few minutes and said it was OK , just him, the Judge and a clerk and he was asked if he had taken advice and from where, did we own our house which we don't its a housing associateion house to which he said "good" and whether the debts were Business related.

OH then came out was shown to a small room to wait for a phonecall from teh OR office, the phone rang a few minutes later, they confirmed his name, address, bank account details and whether we had any benefits still going into the account (which we don't thanks to advice from here and CCCCS), and asked about our car. A letter should arrive within a week from then re next stage.

Picked up the B/C order and that was it.

Both feeling relieved but very tired and drained now. Part one down, just the OR part to get through now and hope my creditors say yes to teh lump sum settlement my parents have offered - fingers crossed
We love what we are doing and we love why we're doing it!!

The OR interview should be straight forward too , they just ask a few questions , you give answers to the best of your ability , and thats that part out the way. Good Luck.
