Morrisons policy on accepting coupons.

I did my shop as normal handing in some coupons(things i hadnt purchased and the lad at the till said you havent bought these items.
I have never had this said to me before, i spoke to the supervisors and they said they do not accept them, its in their training manual.
I have never had any probs before, is this new policy as she said none of Morrisons stores accept coupons and i have read here that they do.

    Hello,

I was only aware that Tesco and Asda's accept vouchers that you dont purchase the product for, and it is only "supposed" to be one voucher like that per shop, upto 10% of your shopping today.

Morrisons have been taking my coupons for months since they took over from Safeway who always did.

I honestly don't know what the policy is, but I know they took my vouchers yesterday for things I hadn't bought. I have to admit I went for the dizziest looking teenager at the checkout and to be honest she looked at them but couldn't remember what we had bought (£60 shop) so stuck them through.
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:

Our local Morrison's does not take coupons unless you buy the product and they never have, as far as I am aware.

  • My brothers a manager at Morrisons. He tells me their official policy is they only accept coupons when you've bought the product. Of course, you may be lucky with the occasional cashier. He believes Safeway used to be a little more generous so perhaps ex safeway stores are a little more casual???

My experience in other stores is Tesco's have tighted up their policy on accepting coupons. Asda accept up to a set limit unless you're lucky enough to find a helpful cashier. Waitrose take them all whether you've bought the product or not and are very helpful. I more than cover the slightly more expensive prices with coupon savings and shopping there is so much easier. Asda & Waitrose for me every time!

I use Waitrose and havent as yet tried Asda, but will and with tescos as i have said before you need to find a student cashier, they generally will take the coupons.

I use coupons at Asda all the time. I have never had any problems. Most of my coupons come from the Somerfield mag. I have spent £17 on clothing and handed over £8 in grocery coupons which have been accepted. I always carry a few coupons in the car incase I pop in unexpectedly. On handing over the vouchers I politely say 'Can you see which ones of these you take?'.On a number of occasions they will call on a supervisor to confirm but again no problems.I have done it so many times now that I think that I have passed the embarassing stage. Many of the till operators are surprised but are keen to the same and frequently ask where I get the coupons. Often the coupons are duplicates. Asda definately gets the thumbs up...but I normally did my grocery shop there anyway!
They even accept the till printed coupons from Somerfield. They dont however accept coupons printed of the internet.

I was given my coupons back at Asda this week 1 was a £1 off clearasil valid at Boots. The other was one that was for Sainsbury, she said they dont take other stores coupons. She even tried to give me 1 back for one of the low carb products, but I questioned that more and told her if it scanned that they must stock the product, so that was accepted. When I asked last week about other shops coupons the lady said she did not know.
