Hi folks,

I am currently on a fixed 12 month contract with Airtricity (bill pay) that ends in December coming, currently paying 15% discount on their standard rate.

However Airtricty have just put up their prices by 18% so I have to pay that increase.

As well as that the 15% discount is ending when my contract ends in December, is going to be reduced to only a 6% reduction in their standard rate.

So in all (if my maths are correct which I bleieve they are) I will be paying a whopping 27% increase on the per unit price compared to what i did a few months ago.

As most of the companies are now a lot closer in price per unit to what they were a few years ago, views appreciated as to who you think are the best price wise?

I have no loyalty to any of them and will gladly swap and change to whom I think will save me £50-£60 a year.

Thanks for any advice.

  • Thanks, just been on phone to Airtricity, and singed up to another 12 month contract at 15% discount off their standard rate, works out at 15.87 pence per unit inc VAT

Airtricity will try to move you automatically to an only 6% discount so its up to us to query that for a better deal.

Probably as good as I will get among all the suppliers, Budget might be a decimal point lower, but my experience of them and their billing system is not good.

even a 1 pence difference in unit rate say for someone who uses 5000 units a year equates to £50 so definitely worth keeping an eye on
  • Hi
What did you say when you rang up I'm in same boat, think my current discount ends in Feb. Did you just complain about the increase or threaten to leave when your contract ended?
  • They were ok this time, no need to complain. They put me through to options team.

Well you are ok anyways, if you are still getting that 15% discount to feb, bill pay.

Pays to check though, why give them £50 extra a year when they is no need to.
