Loan before or after remortgage?

We need to do some home improvements and want to fund part of this via remortgaging. We will also each need a £10k(ish) personal loan or a joint on. Is something like this usually possible to do around the same time if affordability etc is ok? Also, which would we want to do first.

Thanks

  • If you must take a loan out as well then probably 6 months after would be a good idea. Are you sure you need to add to your mortgage and borrow another 20k? Thats a lot of new debt.

Yes, unfortunately the house needs a lot of work (extension and more).
Six months is disappointing though because it would essentially mean doing one before the other and having to keep the money aside until we could get the rest I think?
