lender asking for more info 1 day after offer?

I'm really confused, my broker said the lender needed my latest bank statement and payslip last week. I sent these over and she emailed yesterday to say we had the mortgage offer and attached the offer as a PDF. She said to wait for the paper copies and give one signed to my solicitor, I informed my solicitor that the offer was in the post and asked for an update on everything else. Today my solicitor emailed to say the lender needs more information before they will issue the offer, she has now gone home for the weekend and think my broker shuts down over the weekend too.
Do I have a mortgage offer or not?

No you don't. The offer hasn't been issued yet.
  • So what did my broker send me? it says in the email she has enclosed a copy of the mortgage offer for my information and I should have my copy in the next couple of days. I was hoping that my solicitor had outdated information but I think that is just wishful thinking :(

What update where you were expecting from the solicitor? Perhaps that's where the confusion lies. (I assumed that the solicitor had been in contact with the lender today. Which I suspect was incorrect, Rereading your post).

If your Broker has sent you your mortgage offer, you have an offer.

Lenders do sometimes request additional information then realise they can issue offer based on what they have.

  • I'm hoping that's the case, I was just checking with the solicitor that everything else was done. She has said as soon as the mortgage offer hits her desk we can sign the contracts and exchange so fingers crossed everything is good with the mortgage.
