I did start a thread on this subject some time ago. The best option is the 60 LED GU10 lamps sold on ebay. They are only 1.6 watts each and really do last for years. We use them in our house and they are terrific. But only buy the 60s. Any less, and they will be a disappointment. They will not work on dimmer switches, by the way.
Go on eBay and type 60 led GU10 in 'Search'. There are lots on sale there. Don't buy from Hong Kong, either. They might be cheaper, but the shipping charges can be horrific. Also, delivery is slow.
    Hope this helps.

It looks like these LED GU10s: http://www.globalgreen.co.uk/led1.php
are the ones on http://www.yourwelcome.co.uk/acatalog/GU10_LED_Lamps.html for £17.99 each (£14.39 for 10+)
and on https://www.bltdirect.com/product.php?pid=10653 for £11.69 each.
I don't know how good they are, I've ordered 4 from bltdirect to find out.

If you go to http://www.futureleds.com/ they are a lot cheaper. This is where I buy mine.
