They are allowed to charge you like this. Your agreement was what you should pay. Not what the lender could charge.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi
Ist post - so I hope this is in the right place !!!
Anyone have any advice,... ?
History
My Mum 64 & now redundant still has year left on mortgage.
Fortunatley she has mortage protection plan. But this will not kick in for 90 days. (She has no other savings only state pension so no funds to cover mortgage during this time)
I contacted mortgage company, who after make her jump through hoops, finally agreed a "repayment holiday" for 2 mths. However they have added a £99 Fee for agreeing this! which has been added to rest of the mortgage - as she cant afford to pay it now. (£7K outstanding so fee is 15% of value of mortgage)
I feel that this is unreasonable, why charge her when she has no money!!! Their other suggested was just to go into arrears for 2 months!
any ideas0 -
I feel that this is unreasonable
I feel it is reasonable. Someone has to pay for the work done in looking at the case, making a risk based decision and then putting it in place.why charge her when she has no money
Does that approach work at Tesco's when she does the weekly shop?Their other suggested was just to go into arrears for 2 months!
If she is never going to want to use credit agreements again then its a valid option.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
