How far back do Mortgage lenders look for payday loans?

I've had a string of Wonga's over 2 years ago. If I wanted to apply for a mortgage, how many years should I have clear of those before even applying for a mortgage?

Ideally 6 years and a day. But it depends on the lender you're using. Some won't mind as much.

It will vary from lender to lender.
Some are not bothered if there were loans last month, others will not touch you for 6 years (until they have dropped off your credit report), the rest will fall somewhere in between.

I realise that is probably one of the most open ended answers around, but you just need to check with the lender before applying, or speak to a Mortgage broker to help you out. But normal rates should be possible if they are over 2 years old.

  • This is just my experience but I had to wait a year after mine had been paid but I had to go through a specialist adverse credit lender
