Creditors after bankruptcy

OH went bankrupt today , will post about our experience a bit later.
Could someone please tell me should we tell our creditors he is now B/C or keep ignoring the phone and emails and texts we are getting?

Thanks

Well done today. I hope it went OK.

No reason not to tell them. :D

Some people find it useful to write to each creditor recorded delivery with a copy of the BR certificate. That way they can't deny being told. But in the end it is up to you, since it is part of the OR's duties to notify all creditors (eventually).

I spoke to each of my creditors when they next called me after i went BR - all were very polite when I told them (a couple even said they were sorry to have bothered me!) - MBNA were a little less pleasant said I needed to send them a copy of the BR, I said firmly that the OR would do that, and that was that - haven't heard from any of my creditors by phone since. So my experience was that it was worth telling my creditors but I know not everyone had the same experience so YMMV!

It's your phone and you have a new start. Take pleasure in answering and notice the bad calls diminishing and enjoy the cold calls for double glazing and new kitchens that everyone else enjoys getting..

Like Cinnabar we told the creditors as they phoned us (start as you mean to go on dont pay for phone calls let them pay;) )we qouted BR no and date.Depending on the attitude ,most were polite but some were very rude we also informed them that any further calls would be considerd harrassment and reported accordingly ,now if we could just have the clallers name please?:p Odd but they had to dash and did not call back:rotfl:
Big hug for you & OH its been a tough day.Sleep well tonight your starting a whole new chapter of your life well done:T

Don`t write to them as that would cost you money( Spot the Scotsman!) when they phone , and they will, tell them OH was made bankrupt on the x y z number 123 in the court of xxxx. Take their name and time of call. Ask if the call is being recorded. Tell them that any further calls are to be directed to your OR at the XXX office and that any more you receive at home will be logged and reported as harrasment. It is also illegal for you to enter into any agreement as you ( OH) are bankrupt

And you can have a bit of fun once you`ve got the hang of it too. Remember, they are paying for the call

    Well done Peter Pan :j

I let all my creditor know by letter, sent recorded delivery, also sent a copy of my BR form. I had the odd phone call but now have not had one for over a month.

We decided it was probably best to answer the phone as it was starting to ring a lot and i have posted copies of OH B/C order to creditors today, the calls OH have answered have been ok most have been because we have missed a payment and they are just calling to take payment so no problem OH just said as of xx date i am bankrupt, they have taken a few details and thats been it.

Our focus had been on the hearing and now thats over the focus has changed onto the OR interview, i don't think i can allow myself to feel any better about the situation until that has been tackled (fear of the unknown i think) and knowing we are more than likely losing our car. I can't imagine how we will both feel once that part is over. Still like an emotional rollercoaster but at least the hearing is out of the way.
