Freelance or Self Employed?

At the end of August i started working for my brothers location business as a location co-ordinator (finding locations for films/commercials etc). He said I should register as a freelancer. Is this the right thing to do? or should i just register as self-employed. I'm not sure what route to go down and i'm abit worried I'm 8 weeks in and haven't done anything as yet (have been putting money aside for tax purposes).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA.

Literally the same thing.
(though I suspect you are actually either a worker - though unlikely if there's no written contract - or an employee)0 -
Yes, no written contract. I get paid per day but also have commission on jobs that go through.0

Are you supplying an invoice0

Yes i put an invoice in every couple of weeks.0

HMRC decide what you are - there's a checklist of things for comparison.
Here's their online checker: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/check-employment-status-for-tax
As you don't have any other contracts, that then makes it look as if you're an employee and not self-employed. How'd he feel if you said "can't do it this month, doing somebody else's work ... but I've hired somebody to do the work for me"? If he says "No, I hired you to do the work" then that's employee ... if he says "Fine ... I don't need to know that" then that's self-employed.0
