My first step

It has been just over a month now since I decided to take action to sort out my debts, the way things were going I had very little option.
I have read nearly all the posts on the forum looking for inspiration,and I have found many useful tips. One bit of advice a member posted was to ask for a final assessment on an outstanding debt, this alone saved me nearly £500!, thanks to the member taking the time to point this out to me.

I have a fair distance to go, but I am well on the way I hope. I have saved countless money on what we spent on shopping, electricity,phone and we have sold everything we could and cashed in all savings. Christmas is going to be what we can make not what we can buy, 30 Christmas cards are going out this year not the 150 sent last year, but the decorations from last year are up and look fab, and Christmas will be spent with family this year so no expense there. Friends have been great, they have provided us with hot meals and even clothes they no longer need. Freecycle has been a godsend.

OK the bottom line, just over one month ago when I joined here we owed 19254.78 now we owe 12343.34. Not bad I think, 8000 is a personal loan which we are keeping up payments and the rest is on credit cards, which we hope to clear next year. So 6900 paid 12300 to go.
