DMP and Northern Rock Demands

Hi
I just wanted to add my experience, and to be honest get some reassurance too - NR are starting to be a pain!
I have had a DMP with them since March 2005, a self administred one. Overall, they haven't been too bad, but I have noticed in the last few months a bit of a desperation from them to get their money back.
I've just had a request for a new payment plan, and to be honest I can't afford to pay them any more. I pay them £37 on a £158 original repayment. So I'm in the process of re-doing my budget planner to reflect this. I'm not sure how confident I am that they will accept this.
I had a problem with them recently concerning my payment date too. I have always paid them by standing order on the 1st, but they now expect the payment within 30 days of the new plan, which is the end of the month. So they tried to say I had defaulted. Fortunately they were able to see sense and look at the history to see that the payments had been made.
The "funny" thing about all this is, I have an £8k loan, and get chased ALL the time, whereas my hubby has a £25k loan, and gets an annual review. They never phone or write to him! The problem with that is, I can't complain about their treatment of me, without them (in all likelihood) changing their practice with him, rather than the other way round.
I'm not too worried about if it eventually goes to a charging order. National Debtline have told me that as we have children under 18 living at the house, no judge would force us to sell our house. As my DD is only just 6, we have a while!
Sorry it's rambling

I haven't had this experiance with NR but something similar with Halifax. They agreed to a 6 month DMP then when that was up sent me a letter to contact them to arrainge further payments. The next day they sent a default notice not exactly giving me time. The default notice sounded realy scary threatening court action if I didn't pay the full amount straight away but it is only designed to scare you into paying. They have now passed it to a debt collection agency who have honestly been easy to deal with, better than Halifax. I dont know about NR but I think in general it is rare to go straight to court action especialy if you are in contact with them and paying as much as you can afford."You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts" - Arthur Schlesinger
