Is it normal not to have your own legal representation for a remortgage?

Options
Hi all
I'm quite far down the line with my 1st ever remortgage. I'm just about to return all the documentation to the solicitor which was appointed by the lender. I have just noticed that it mentions that the solicitor is acting for the lender only. I had naively assumed they were acting on my behalf.
My question is is this the normal way of doing a remortgage?

Thanks in advance

Yes, it it normal. The Solicitor is removing the current mortgage and putting in place a new one in the name of the new Lender.

So you wouldn't normally go and get your own legal representation for a remortgage?

I should've mentioned that I'm not staying with my surtrnt lender hence why I thought it may have been normal to have legal representation when moving to a new lender
    Thanks

For what purpose. Nothing is changing except for the lender who is financing the purchase. Which is your decision.

I have never used a lawyer or broker when remortgaging, just did it all myself.
