Banana bread topping, like a coffee shop.

I make banana bread but must admit I get a bit fed up of it.
I was out shopping and passed a well known high Street coffee chain, in the window there was a poster, that said perfect partners, which was a coffee and a slice of banana bread. On top of the banana bread there was what looked to be dryer banana chips and pecans.
I thought this would add some interest to my banana bread, but I'm not sure how to add them.
Do I put them on before baking?
Do I add them on when they are baked, if I do how do I get them to stick?
Any thoughts?
Thanks

You make your mix and pour it in the tin, then sprinkle the chips and pecans on the top, then bake,
You can also add a topping of brown sugar that woud crisp up.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
And if you're an expectant duchess, apparently you add ginger.
I do wonder what Harry said.0 -
I made banana bread today and put some pecans on top with some brown sugar, it didn't rise as well as it usually does and the topping did sink into the cake a little. I googled st@rbucks banana bread and it seems it's very popular in America, although theirs doesn't have the topping.0

I googled St@rbucks banana bread and I found a recipe for 'St@rbucks copycat banana bread' that had walnuts on top and in the dough as well. Maybe that could be a nice variety.
It would work for me, I have loads of walnuts - my neighbour has a walnut tree and is too lazy to pick up the nuts.0
