Pension mistake rules

Is there somewhere that explains the rules that apply regarding pension mistakes? i.e. what laws apply and what do they mean in practice? When I search for info, I see lots of stuff about when you've been overpaid, to the exclusion of anything else. The kind of thing I'm interested in are what time limits apply, if any, to the rectification of mistakes. Also, do the same rules about payslips apply as to payslips in employment and if not, what are the rules?

you might get a better answer (or indeed, any answer) if you lay out the specific facts of the scenario rather than a generic question. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you're suggesting, but what I'd like to do is educate myself as to the law in this area.0

Which area?
Mistakes in personal contributions?
Mistakes in employer contributions?
Mistakes in employer registration for auto-enrollment?
Mistakes in pension provider payments to the pensioner?
Mistakes in financial advice?
Tax mistakes by HMRC?
Tax mistakes by individuals
Employer mistakes over contribution calculations?
Mistakes in NI contributions records?
Mistakes in state pension calculations?
I'm sure there must be a few more. It's a very broad legal area you are seeking education in, and mostly pointless if you are interested only in one specific area. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Have a look at the Pensions Ombudsman and TPAS's websites.0
