    KevinG,

You might like to seek a quote from my installer in Kidderminster - eco2solar.co.uk. I understand they have moved out of domestic and are focusing on commercial and new build but might be worth a try. And who knows we might each get a referral pressie:rotfl:

Thanks, I'll bear them in mind.

You can get 270W panels for less than £100 and an inverter big enough to do the job would be £1500.

So that would account for say £13K. So what makes up the rest of it?

Some of it would be labour & scaffolding - but surely not £14k's worth !

There'd also be insurance costs - not only for the workers but also third party. This used to cost me quite a bit for my company before I retired. Health and safety items for working at heights cost a lot and need to be replaced from time to time as they wear out or become out of date.

We're probably going to take a bit more time on this now. We clearly need some more quotes and if we miss the boat on the FiTs it won't be the end of the world because (a) most of the payback comes from electricity savings and (b) prices are bound to go down when the FiT ends.

Good points. Indeed, my raised beds are courtesy of scaffold boards left behind after my PV install as I'd asked very nicely.. :-)
