I managed another walk with my mum this morning which was nice and I feel nicely recharged afterwards. I've also managed to cash out a fiver from Prolific this morning as well, which is good. Feeling positive today...even if I have hurt my back.
Need to bang out some school work with the kids this afternoon to catch up on all the bits we didn't do last week. Sigh. But then I'll let them have the day off tomorrow, whilst I'm working. So it's swings and roundabouts.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Well this week has been a week. A real struggle. Really intense week at work and the kids have not played ball because they are a bit fed up of keeping themselves amused I think. So I've been really struggling with the juggling this week and feeling just exhausted.
Feeling a bit more positive today, but I've not had a week this difficult for a long time. 2 weeks until half term, no school work, no work work and just time to spend with the kids. I'm really looking forward to it and want to get out for some walks if possible and make a start on sorting the garden as best I can ready for veg growing season.
Financially, we've had a good start to the year, relatively low expenses so can't complain about that. And it's no council tax months now so YAY!
My hairdresser (who is also a friend) is offering a 25% discount scheme on gift vouchers at the moment. So I'm debating buying the next 3 appointments in vouchers to save some money. I could use the money I got back from the breakdown cover refund so I wouldn't feel the difference in my bank account. Plus it will help tide her over. She works out of her home so, I'm not worried about her going out of business or anything because compared to a lot of people who have their own businesses she's in an ok position.
I've cashed out £5.06 from Prolific so paid it off the mortgage. OPing is sooo addictive.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

I've decided to simplify my reporting so that it doesn't take me so long to do. And just go with headline figures. I'm ok with what we've achieved this month. That's a lie. I'm really chuffed with what we have achieved this month.
And our food spends for the month despite the boys being home were lower than every month last year, with the exception of 2. So I'm hoping we can start as we mean to go on. We've started the year in the black, which is not something I achieved last year, so yay us.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Woop! Well done Twinklie - being in the black is good, and Jan is a long cold month, with kids at home to school and entertain, so that is great work!Save £20,000 in 2025. April 2k, May 3.5k4

Hmm...we have decided to rip up the decking at the back of the house and flag a patio area there rather than the decking. We both hate it and we saw a giant rat in the garden earlier and now DH is convinced it's living under the decking and procreating. It works for me if it gets rid of the decking.
So that means that some of the savings progress I'm making might end up being diverted into paying for that. But he will do it all himself so hopefully it won't cost too much...hopefully. I'm a bit concerned about what he might find when he pulls the decking up though, but we shall see.
Excitingly the mortgage payment now comes out on the 10th of each month, which should give me ample time to work out how much I should OP for the remainder of the month. I'm thinking of trying to OP a little more than I'd originally planned, but I'm trying not to rush into things because I've gotten myself all excited.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Ahem, the mortgage interest was adjusted at the end of the month and I couldn't cope so sent another £22.33 OP.
So OP now stands at £89.45 for January and my mortgage ends, £000.00.

So the mortgage payment doesn't go out until the 10th, so it will be the 11th before I know how much I need to OP to get it to end in £00.00. However, I have cashed out some pennies from TopCashBack, Quidco and what I had left sitting in my lottery account has come back to me after I stopped playing that years ago. I've also finally regained access to One Poll, so have cashed out £25 from there too. Think it will take me to approximately £55 to OP on the mortgage as well. Need for it to all hit my account first though.
Only 4 more days of work to get through which is exciting. I cannot wait. It's just mad busy at the minute. I'm soooo tired and I think the kids are ready for a break too.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
