Buyer Awaiting Solicitor Allocated by Lender

  • They buyers are buying to let and the estate agent has worked with them previously. The estate agent reckons it would be 6-8 weeks...to be fair, the timescale isn't a major thing for us since the vendor we're buying from hasn't found a property yet.

The issue is, I've not done this before and our estate agents haven't changed the status of our property from under offer to sold stc because they don't have details on who will be acting on the buyers behalf...they say this shows commitment from them.

That being said, they've submitted their mortgage application so that obviously is showing they're committed to buying.

Your looking at 3/4 months unless this is a well motivated buyer with experience of the system.

Is this the general timescale for a house sale?
  • Yes that's for the full process to completion the timescale for the step your looking at is more like 1-2 weeks depending on lender some may be longer hard to say without knowing the lender
  • Update: surveyors have just booked to value the house tomorrow! I fell better knowing things are moving
  • Yes that's good news selling and buying is a long process and requirs patience unfortunately
