Arrnagement Fees

Hello
I'm looking for a bit of advice. I'm currently looking for a remortgage as my current mortgage is almost up. I am looking for a fixed term loan for £108,000 for 3 years. Have found a few good offers but most seem to have arrangement fees of at least £500. I'm a bit concerned with this as if I put it onto the mortgage its gonna add to the debt. I would probably prefer a loan with a higher rate. Are their any mortgages out their with fairly low rates and no or low arrangement fees? If so can anyone recommend one to me?
Thanks
Paul

  • Are you looking for a fixed rate, or tracker? What length of term are you happy to commit to? Are you likely to move house at all, or are any other possible changes in circumstances looming?

  • Could be swayed to either a tracker or fixed rate whatever is the lowest monthly payments. I plan to move house in 3 years so looking for a 3 year term.

There indeed normally deals that offer higehr rates with lower fees.

Having said that, fees of £500, would now be considered low based on the trend of ever increasing arrangement fees £1000+ is not uncommon any more

  • As mentioned above, £500 isn't that bad, especially spread over a three year rate. Halifax and Nationwide are both fairly reasonable fees and rates. Also, have a look at the Principality - 6.19% with no arrangement fee.

On the tracker side, Furness have a three year tracker at 6% with no fee.

These obviously all depend on your individual circumstances - income, credit score, affordability etc - but would be a good starting point

Depending on the deposit that you are putting down C&G also do some good term trackers with only a £99 booking fee.
