I've been merrily using as much plastic as I want in everyday life, cleaning it and putting it in recycling. Now I'm horrifed to find out that all this plastic could be going into landfill or is being burnt. So I'm been trying to "do better".
Firstly, I'm trying to pick plasticss that are recyclable over non-recyclable but secondly chose things that are not plastics.
Have you got any hints and tips?

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

- Chosing washing powder in boxes versus washing liquid in plastic containers
- Chosing pasta sauce in a jar not a pouch
- Choosing ready chopped veg is in foil tray (M & S) versus plastic in other stores
Any other ideas? What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

How about making your own pasta & pasta sauce from scratch, or if you can't manage to roll, cut & cook a little flour & eggs mix, try buying shaped/dried pasta in paper packaging ... but most of all, if you're serious, please reconsider the idea of buying pre-prepared veg altogether ... get your string bag out, buy unpackaged produce from a local shop or market - aluminium may be recyclable, but the embodied energy for a one-off disposable use is a complete waste of resource (smelting energy, forming, transport etc) - so is it really necessary?
Our flour comes from a local(ish) flour mill with eggs & most veg from local farms, & most tomatoes, basil etc from the garden:- very little is from supermarkets and only a tiny, tiny proportion of that would be pre-packaged ... the last time I can remember was probably in early summer when we bought a large bag of mixed-salad leaves to reduce wastage if we'd bought everything separately!

Does anyone know where you can get toilet paper wrapped in paper like it was in the old days? What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. I have recently bought loo rolls from Who Gives a Crap and I'm really pleased with them.: it's made from recycled paper, each roll is wrapped in paper, it's delivered in a cardboard box and 50% of the profit goes to provide toilets in places where they're needed.
The smallest box is 48 rolls and they are 400 sheets per roll. I was a bit sceptical about them lasting longer than my usual recycled tp but a roll does last twice as long, about a week for two of us. I will definitely be buying these in future. Take a look at the website and see what you think - I don't work for them, just a satisfied customer!0
