Old bankruptcy

Hi. I am after a little advice. I was made bankrupt in 2006 and was discharged 8 months later. I no longer have any details on my bankruptcy and after applying for a job recently and being offered the position I have to go through the process of being checked by a specialist company. One question I was asked was if I had ever been declared bankrupt to which I answered yes. They want to know the details like how many creditors and how much was the total debt. How do I get hold of this info. It’s been 12 years and I’m not sure that this information would even still be available. I’m panicking as I’m due to leave my current job on the 2/11 ready to start my new job on the 8/11. What do I do? Any help or advice would be greatfully appreciated.
Thank you

Hi,
Records are usually only kept for 6 years, you could try the insolvency service, they may still have you on file in there archives, failing that, you will either have to rely on your memory or tell them records older than 6 years are deleted, and unfortunately that information is no longer available.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. For dates and where you were made BR try The Gazette
https://www.thegazette.co.uk/insolvency
You can search on your name and it will give you general information about date/ court/ sometimes the total balance of your debt - it's the official public register and your entry should be sufficient information for the checking company.0 -

Why would they ask?
id suggest if you cant find the details neither can they
only working in the financial world requires this sort of probing

I mean isnt it bad enough we have the shame of bankruptcy without having our noses rubbed in it for the rest of our lives?
ive also got a criminal record from 1984 which got asked about so mamy times i ended up going self employed, what are we expected to do, wear sackcloth and ashes to the grave?0 -
The job is for a bank. So I understand why the need for screening. But I can’t see why it would matter after 12 years. And I agree it’s like a millstone around the neck. Always having to declare it when asked. But it is what it is and I can’t do anything but wait and see what happens. Thanks everyone.0

I think if you answer the question honestly saying it's 12 years ago, you haven't got the records any more so cannot give the money the exact details etc etc there's not a lot they can do. And you have answered the question honestly!0

Exactly and that’s what I’ve told them. So I just have to wait and see what the outcome is. Hopefully I’ll know by the end of the week. 0
