What will my pension pot be?

  • Yes, my default retirement age is 57, it was 55 but that changed 2 years ago. I’m defo not looking to come out the DB pension, I was just saying Id like the option when I’m 57 to either take the company pension on take my transfer value then and invest it myself. It all depends on my circumstances at the time and what’s better for me.

Yes my current pension comes with death in service benefit

Fads come and go. In another 20 years time your view of the investment world will have matured a little. Recent levels of return are abnormal for good reason.
  • DCs are the very poor relation of DBs for the very reason that they are subject to highly variable investment returns. You have a guaranteed return for a small cost to you. Hold onto it with your life!!

Don't worry about any transfer value as it will close the door on the great benefits you are already accruing in the DB scheme. The real value of your guaranteed income (if it's £6k p.a.) is materially higher than the £135k transfer value.
    Thinking critically since 1996....
