Thicker socks

It seems hard to find thicker socks that are cotton- or wool-rich these days. Always used to buy M&S cotton crew socks which were ideal, but now they seem to sell the same thin nasty ones as everywhere else.

Not looking for hiking sock thickness, more sport sock thickness but in basic black or navy. Any suggestions please?

I got a few pairs of 'wellie' socks from Aldi earlier in the year, they are not as thick as hiking socks but certainly thicker than the ones on sale generally, I wish that I had bough more of them.

Aldi have 'working' men's socks in this week, they feel a bit thicker than the usual rubbish.
