Thank you all so much for the feedback so far. I was wondering if I was barking up the wrong tree but your posts have all been really encouraging. Glad I looked into it and not settled for the £4000

Is it three months full pay? I thought it is one? Also does anybody know why a widow will get 50% and a widower 33%. Thanks

The guide above says for 1995 Scheme
A continuing adult dependant’s pension of 50% of the member’s pension in payment3 based only on membership from 6 April 1988.
If you are the widow of a male member the pension will include membership prior to 6 April 1988.
Plus a short term pension equal to the rate of the member’s pension in payment for the first 3 months or 6 months if there is at least one eligible dependent child
and for 2008 Scheme
A continuing adult dependant’s pension of 37.5% of the member’s pension in payment2
Plus a short term pension equal to the rate of the member’s pension in payment for the first 3 months or 6 months if there is at least one eligible dependent child0 -

Apparently, they can’t control the postal service.
Call me a cynic but somebody is lying, probably to cover up incompetence.Free the dunston one next time too.0 -
So update - if you can call it that
I spoke to 3 people late last week/early this week who went through figures but got me knowhere! The fourth person wouldn’t talk to me because there was “no authorisation on the account” which means either they have lost my grandmas letter or the previous 3 broke data protection!!!!
Out authorisation back on the account but would only last 5 days. Called daily. Today that authorisation ran out so I spent 2.5 hours on the phone (thankfully I have an understanding boss) an hour of which was just on hold!
Still not received any letters after many requests. Checked address again! Got told she is only entitled to 25% which is where I lost it as we have Ben told 50%. Got through to a manager who appolagised and said we are entitled to 50%. No response to the letter my gran sent in with the breakdown. Refused to get off the phone till I got somewhere!
Finally after 6 months they admitted they could call the team that makes the decisions. Manager arranged call back and said I should here something by end of play tomorrow and advised that why he was not a financial advisor he would almost certainly confirm my gran is being underpaid
Apparently, the date they have down as her marriage is still wrong after correcting 3 times and sending in marriage certificate twice and that’s what is causing the issue. In spite of sending it in twice they have no copy on the system.
The letter my gran sent in they said the reason we have had no response is because it was logged against my grandads name and as he is deceased it’s a closed file so although it went in 10 days ago no one has looked at it.
I have never ever called the NHS because they have done so much for me and my family but this has been awful from start to finish. Hoping I get it sorted for her before Xmas0 -
This is utterly appalling and there is just no excuse for this level of incompetence.
Make a formal complaint ( have you spoken to TPAS yet) and if necessary involve your grandma's MP.0
